Sandy

Syria and Lebanon

Sandy Khabbazeh came to New Jersey from Aleppo in northern Syria, a battleground between the government’s army and the Islamic State. Before she left, Sandy would wonder when leaving her house if she would ever come back. She was shot at by snipers on her way to school. And as Christians, she and her family felt especially vulnerable.

Welcome—Less than one percent of refugees worldwide are safely resettled through a formal refugee resettlement program. The United States and Canada have been leaders in formal refugee resettlement for decades, and resettlement agencies in both countries rely on faith based churches and individuals to sponsor refugees and help with resettlement services. If you are interested in assisting, reach out to refugee resettlement agencies in your area or contact JJ TenClay, Refugee Ministries Coordinator for RCA Global Mission at jjtenclay@rca.org.
